My boss reminded me yesterday that I have a facebook account by inviting me to be a friend. When I logged in, I realized that some while ago, I started to 'establish my online identity' and completely failed to follow through. So here is my new start. Around the same time I started my facebook account, I also started a live journal account without ever posting anything, and I am going to try to keep both going for a while and see how it goes.

While this is not intended to be a political journal, that is where I will start...

My politics are a little odd. I'm about as far to the left (think Europe not US) as you can get socially and economically, but I also recognize the failure of socialist and communist systems as currently conceived. On the other hand, the US is in the painful process of discovering that capitalism is just as much of a failure if not more so.

For the last 150+ years, economics have been driven by a competition between these two options and the various shades between them. Unfortunately, it seems like both are on their deathbed. And there is nothing to replace them.

Our world needs a new socio/economic system, so what the hell are we to do?

I have some humble ideas... For later though.
